Crossroads Ad Labels Davis as ‘Millionaire Career Candidate’

American Crossroads hammered at Jack Davis, the third-party candidate in the special election for New York’s 26th district, in a television advertisement released Tuesday evening.

The conservative group is running the ad, which will start appearing Wednesday morning on Buffalo and Rochester TV stations, as part of $650,000 in television advertising time that it has reserved in markets in the district.

Crossroads’ ad didn’t mention Democratic nominee Kathy Hochul.

The ad labeled Davis as a “millionaire career candidate” and accused him of “pretending to be conservative.”

Davis has run as a Democrat three times in the past, but he will appear on the “Tea Party” line in the May 24 special election ballot.

According to campaign records filed this week with the Federal Election Commission, Davis has loaned his campaign $2.1 million so far, and he has promised to spend $3 million. The businessman is not seeking outside donations.

Davis, Hochul and Republican candidate Jane Corwin are running to succeed former Rep. Chris Lee (R), who resigned this year after a website published his sexually suggestive emails and photos.
