A new &pizza is set to open on the Capitol campus Feb. 6, with a grand opening in the Rayburn House Office Building.

The Rayburn &pizza location will be the 33rd shop for the chain, which calls itself a “homegrown D.C. craft pie purveyor.”

Roll Call confirmed Jan. 7 that the fast-casual pizza joint would be among the expansion of brand-name eateries added to the House side. Au Bon Pain will open in the Cannon House Office Building in the spring, according to House Chief Administrative Officer Philip Kiko, who oversees food service on the House side of the Capitol.

D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton will be at the opening, along with Kiko, &pizza executive Andy Hooper and Larry McMarlin, the manager of House food service contractor Sodexo.

The company is “excited to bring its culinary innovation, unique retail design and unmatched employee culture to Capitol Hill,” said &pizza spokesperson Mary Kate Fields on Friday.

A congressional subcommittee overseeing the CAO’s budget recently directed the office to explore adding additional brand-name food options.

Despite rampant rumors among House staffers shared with Roll Call over the past month, Shake Shack is not coming to the Capitol.

There are no plans to add the burger chain, which has a shop near the Capitol complex in Union Station, according to Shake Shack spokesperson Kristyn Clark.
