The Chamber of Commerce is spending more than $185,000 on independent expenditures supporting a business-friendly candidate in the Alabama Republican primary runoff election.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce reported to the Federal Election Commission this morning that it had spent $185,122 on independent expenditures supporting Bradley Byrne, R-Ala., in the Alabama Republican special primary runoff in Alabama's first Congressional District. Byrne is running against Dean Young, R-Ala., a social conservative candidate. Political MoneyLine's earlier posting highlighted Byrne's fundraising advantage.
The Republican primary runoff election is November 5th. The winner will face Democrat Burton LeFlore on December 17th.
