Calling all Washington, D.C.-area Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender activists and supporters: Capital Pride, the nonprofit that hosts the annual Capital Pride Parade and Festival, is seeking nominations for its annual Heroes award.
The award — which will be given out at the organization’s Capital Pride Heroes Gala on May 29 – honors individuals who have worked to affect D.C.'s LGBT community in a positive way, either through bold-faced activism or quiet diligence.
“Each year since 1999, Capital Pride has recognized and honored a small group of individuals who have made a lasting impact on the Washington, DC LGBTA community,” the group's release said. “These individuals have devoted their time and talents in many ways to advance the cause of equality and acceptance.”
Anyone is welcome to submit nominations, including hard-working Capitol Hill staffers. The deadline to submit nominations is March 31, and each will be reviewed by Capital Pride’s board of directors.
For those who can’t make the gala to see the Heroes honored, they will be on hand at the annual Pride Parade, which will be held June 8.
