Nick Loeb, the boyfriend of "Modern Family" actress Sofia Vergara, won't run for the Senate, he said today.
According to the St. Petersburg Times, the Republican cited his health as the reason for passing on a run against Sen. Bill Nelson (D). Loeb was hurt in a car accident last year.
The wealthy scion of a political family told Roll Call over the summer that he was seriously considering a bid.
The current GOP contenders to take on Nelson are former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, former Sen. George LeMieux, former Ruth's Chris CEO Craig Miller and retired Army Col. Mike McCalister. Rep. Connie Mack IV will officially enter the race soon. Recent polls have shown that Mack begins as the frontrunner in the GOP race.
Roll Call has launched a new feature, Hill Navigator, to advise congressional staffers and would-be staffers on how to manage workplace issues on Capitol Hill. Please send us your questions anything from office etiquette, to handling awkward moments, to what happens when the work life gets too personal. Submissions will be treated anonymously.
