A top aide to Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (D) has been subpoenaed for testimony before a federal grand jury, but the Michigan lawmaker's office declined to provide further details. Kilpatrick Office Manager Andrea Bragg has been called to testify in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, according to the March 9 edition of the Congressional Record. The Record indicated Bragg notified Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) of the subpoena, as required under House rules, in a March 1 letter and indicated she will comply. In a written statement, Kilpatrick spokeswoman Tracy Walker declined to comment on the subpoena or what investigation it is connected to. "We do not have any comment beyond the official notification that you have seen in the Congressional Record, which was published pursuant to Rule VIII of the U.S. House of Representatives," Walker wrote. According to Legistorm.com, which tracks Congressional staff salaries, Braggs has worked in Kilpatrick's office since at least 2000 and has been listed as both office manager and executive assistant.
