Durbin: ‘Place Your Bets’ on 8 p.m. Health Care Vote

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said Thursday that Senators should expect to take their first vote on a major health care reform effort Saturday night around 8.

Durbin indicated that the vote would probably occur at that time in order to accommodate centrist Democrats who had requested the bill be available for review for three days prior to any vote.

“Place your bets on 8 p.m.,” Durbin said.

He added, “There’s also some concern about the 72 hours passing after it’s posted on the Internet.”

Reid is currently working to corral 60 votes on the vote to begin the debate on the overhaul.
