A safety team will complete the drill with Capitol Police and D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services near Folger Park at Second Street Southeast, AOC spokeswoman Eva Malecki said. It will last for about an hour and won’t affect local traffic, she said.

The drill is part of the AOC’s five-year effort to fix the aging utility tunnels, which suffer from falling concrete and exposed asbestos. More than two miles of tunnels are underneath the Capitol, heating and cooling Congressional buildings.
