Embattled Rep. Jane Harman apparently didn’t let a little wiretapping scandal spoil her Tuesday night.

The California Democrat managed to make it to the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s “Welcome to Washington” event, entering the theater in darkness just after the curtain went up and exiting while performers gave their bows.

Held at the Sidney Harman Hall — a building named in honor of the Congresswoman’s husband, an audio equipment magnate — the event featured performances from several area theater groups, including the Arena Stage, the Washington Ballet and the Washington National Opera. Several Members of Congress, including Harman, served as honorary chairs of the event, alongside members of the Supreme Court and the British ambassador.

First lady Michelle Obama also attended, along with D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty. Harman is a longtime patron of the Shakespeare Theatre Company and, with her husband, donated $20 million to help build the hall, which opened in 2007.
