“I’m honored. I appreciate all this. I have a lot to weigh,” Emanuel told WLS-TV, the ABC News Chicago affiliate. “The basis of public service, which I have given my life to, a career choice. But most importantly, what I want to do ... as a parent.”

Emanuel is a key member of the House Democratic leadership and is regarded as a likely future Speaker of the House if he were to continue his Congressional career.
