Rep. John Dingell will be spending Saturday night with a gaggle of famous ladies. The Michigan Democrat is slated to attend the Honoring the Promise gala at the Kennedy Center, hosted by Susan G. Komen for the Cure. He will be joined by former first lady Laura Bush, actress Cynthia Nixon and a handful of other celebs.
The gala will honor eight media mavens, including Andrea Mitchell and breast cancer survivor Robin Roberts, for their work in the fight against breast cancer.
The evening will begin with the award presentation, followed by performances by Olivia Newton-John, Lynda Carter and other artists. The gala will end with dinner and dancing.
Members Hit the Town
Members, media and other D.C. types flocked to the Donovan House on Thursday night for Time magazine’s 40 Under 40 party.
About 200 people gathered to fete movers and shakers such as Reps. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) and Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-S.D.).
Guests, including Polis and fellow honoree and HOH crush Sen. Carte Goodwin (D-W.Va.), sipped on themed cocktails, including the Blue State Fizz, the Red State Ruby and — the most popular drink of the night — the Iced Tea Party.
While Reggie Love, special assistant to President Barack Obama, was hanging out at the Donovan House, his former co-worker Kal Penn (aka Kumar from “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle”) was spotted dining on 14th Street. A spy tells HOH that the actor, dressed in a white T-shirt and backward hat, was breaking bread with a male friend at the Thai restaurant Rice.
