While the snoozefest season finale of The Real Housewives of D.C. kept many tee-vee viewers glued to their sets on Thursday night, the reality television letdown wasnt the only show on the air that featured Washington front and center.
Emmy-winning comedy 30 Rock spoofed Congress, as NBC exec Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) testified before the House Subcommittee on Baseball, Quiz Shows, Terrorism and Media about the impending merger between NBC Universal and KableTown. (Sound familar?)
Although Donaghy at first appears confident he can win Members of Congress over Do you know who gets elected to Congress these days? Former athletes, washed-up actors and women, he tells colleague Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) once in D.C., he faces the wrath of Rep. Regina Bookman, a tough-talking Congresswoman from Rhode Islands 1st Congressional district. Shes played by Queen Latifah, who quizzes Donaghy on his corporations diversity efforts.
And predictably, Donaghys efforts to prove his company supports diversity, um...
dont go so well.
