Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed Monday a White House assertion that Democrats are in jeopardy of losing control of the House in midterm elections this November, according to a report on the San Francisco Chronicles website. The California Democrat said her party had absolutely no intention of losing the House and that she thought such a scenario was unlikely, a political blog written by the newspaper reported. She was speaking at an event at a San Francisco community center that received economic stimulus funding.Pelosis comments came a day after White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said on NBCs Meet the Press that there was no doubt theres enough seats in play to allow Republicans to take control of the House in November.Anytime the White House wants to lower expectations, thats OK with me, Pelosi reportedly said in reference to Gibbs remarks. Some Republicans, meanwhile, have seized on Gibbs comments in their quest to gain seats in what is expected to be a challenging midterm election for Democrats.
