HOH’s One-Minute Recess: The Full Nelson

Another Nebraska lawmaker is learning what it’s like to walk a mile in Sen. Ben Nelson’s lush pompadour: State Sen. John Nelson of Omaha is apparently getting mixed up with the senior Senator from the Cornhusker State.

The Journal Star reports that people have been confusing John Nelson with Ben Nelson, whose role in the health care debate (and his “yea” vote for the final bill) has come under fire.

The paper notes that John Nelson is a Republican and opposed the health care measure, but he still sympathizes with the “intense pressure” the other Nelson is feeling.

“John Nelson says he’s discovered that many people don’t know who their state or U.S. senators are, but at least they’re interested in issues of the day,” the paper reports.

But of course, John and Ben aren’t the only Nelsons in town — Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) is often confused with his Senate colleague (and vice versa). A Bill Nelson spokesman tells HOH that the two often joke about it.

Schock Value. And who knew that TMZ had sources on the streets of Peoria? The gossipy site is reporting that Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) got into a minor car accident Thursday after skidding on some ice. TMZ reports that the buff Congressman still arrived on time for the event to which he was driving. “Amazingly, his abs arrived early,” the item says.
