Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) has turned his charge that Republicans want the sick to die quickly into $100,000 in campaign cash, and counting.
Grayson reported the $100,000 haul on the liberal Web site, DailyKos.com. Grayson also used the Web site to continue his attacks on Republicans, going after them for preparing a resolution of disapproval against him and reiterating that he will not apologize on the House floor for his remarks.
Grayson has been regularly updating his campaign cash haul on the site. On it, Grayson writes: What is this, junior high school? Do they think my feelings are hurt? Just what do these people think health care means? Its not some abstract issue, were talking about life and death! And the Republicans, who ran the government in full or in part from 2001-2009, chose to let those 44,000 people die, every single year when they were in power. And George W. Bush, whom the Republicans somehow pretend was not President for the last eight years, just let them die. He even vetoed health care for poor children.
So apologize? I dont think so.
Republicans have postponed any action for now on a resolution of disapproval, but the National Republican Congressional Committee set up its own Web site to raise money to defeat Grayson at Alandisgrayson.com.
Earlier Thursday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refused to call on Grayson to offer an apology.
