Flake Goes After PMA, Hopes Third Time Is a Charm

Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) on Friday filed his third resolution targeting the PMA Group, a defense lobbying firm whose hefty campaign contributions are apparently the focus of a federal criminal probe.
The House tabled Flake’s two previous PMA resolutions, though the Arizona Republican picked up four more Democratic votes between the first and second one. His second resolution was tabled Thursday by a vote of 222-181; 21 Democrats sided with Flake in opposing it being tabled.
The resolution filed Friday is the same as the previous one, except it more narrowly focuses on earmark requests in fiscal 2009 and includes “a few more whereas clauses,” Flake said.
The Justice Department is already conducting a criminal investigation into the firm, but Flake has argued that the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct has a responsibility to investigate, as well.
