President-elect Barack Obamas presidential transition office on Monday said a review of contacts with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) shows that neither Obama nor his staff were involved in inappropriate discussions with the governor or his staff over the selection of Obamas successor as Senator.
The review is ready for release, according to a statement by the transition team, but prosecutors have requested that its release be delayed until the week of Dec. 22 in order not to impede their investigation of the governor.
Blagojevich has been arrested on corruption charges that involve efforts to benefit from filling the Senate seat.
Vice President Joe Biden waits to conduct a mock swearing-in ceremony with Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, in the Capitol's Old Senate Chamber, December 2, 2014. Schatz was sworn in to serve the remainder of his term since he was appointed to the seat after Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, passed away.
