Adviser to Possible Scott Brown Challenger Scouts for Staff

A political consultant for Democratic Mayor Setti Warren of Newton, Mass., told a community newspaper over the weekend that the mayor will decide whether to challenge Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) in the next month or two.

The Dorchester Reporter also obtained an e-mail by the consultant, Deborah Shah, to students that seeks help for a potential campaign. The e-mail, which was sent this month, indicated that the help could be brought on at the end of April and that “top performers” could be hired for staff jobs over the summer or after Labor Day.

The e-mail was a first step toward being prepared for a campaign, Shah told the newspaper.

Warren issued a statement early this month saying he is actively considering a run. The Iraq War veteran is Newton’s first black mayor and a former aide to Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass).

Nobody seems to like the automatic Pentagon spending cuts set for January, but there is little Congressional agreement on an alternative.
