President Barack Obama received two more updates Monday on the investigation into the Tucson, Ariz., shooting that left six dead and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) in critical condition.
Obama was updated on Monday morning twice by homeland security adviser John Brennan, in addition to the three briefings he received from Brennan on Sunday, according to a White House readout.
The president has also been calling lawmakers and family members affected by Saturday’s attack. He made calls on Sunday night to the families of Christina-Taylor Green and Gabe Zimmerman, both of whom were killed, and called Arizona Republican Sens. Jon Kyl and John McCain. Zimmerman, 30, was Giffords’ director of community outreach.
The president also spoke to FBI Director Robert Mueller “to pass along his appreciation” for his and other officials’ work in investigating the incident.
Obama made calls to several House leaders on Saturday, in addition to Giffords’ husband.
