Lobbyist Tim Berry Will Run McCarthy’s Office

House Majority Whip-designate Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Friday announced that Hill veteran Tim Berry, now a top lobbyist at Time Warner Inc., will join his office as chief of staff.

Berry has worked for the media corporation since 2006, most recently as vice president of global public policy. This move is a return to the Hill for Berry, who served as floor assistant and later as chief of staff to then-Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas).

James Min, who previously served as McCarthy’s chief of staff, will become deputy chief of staff.

Sarah Pompei, who worked most recently as a press secretary for Meg Whitman’s (R) unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign in California, will serve as communications director.

McCarthy aide Erica Elliott will be press secretary in the Majority Whip office.

John Stipicevic, who previously worked as a floor assistant for Majority Leader-designate Eric Cantor (R-Va.), will join the McCarthy office as his floor director.

And Brian Worth, a former vice president of government affairs for the Independent Electrical Contractors, will serve as McCarthy’s coalition director.

Anna Palmer contributed to this report.
