HOH's One-Minute Recess: Linkage Mix-Up

Here’s another reminder of why one must be careful when copying and pasting into a widely distributed e-mail.

House Majority Leader-designate Eric Cantor’s office sent an e-mail to reporters Wednesday morning announcing the legislative calendar for the upcoming Congress. Included in the e-mail, from Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring, was a link directing visitors to the Virginia Republican’s calendar home page. Only instead of linking to the Cantor website, the link sent visitors to a tweet posted by Vincent Morris, spokesman for House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.).

The tweet, incidentally, included a photo of poinsettias “sitting wilted and dead” outside Cantor’s office in the Capitol.

“Well, the rules committee will benefit from the certainty in the new schedule, Mr. Morris no doubt started ‘trending’ on Twitter, and the poinsettia was watered and saved, so all in all it was a bipartisan victory,” Dayspring tells HOH.
