The re-election campaign committee of a sitting five-term U.S. Senator appears not quite up to speed on the basic campaign mechanics for their 2014 election.
The campaign committee of Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has been queried by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) regarding campaign contributions that appear to be over the legal limits for political giving by individuals and political action committees.
The Federal Election Commission sent a letter on Tuesday to the treasurer of the McConnell Senate Committee '14 requesting additional information on the contributions of twelve individuals and seven PACs, that appear to be excessive, prohibited and impermissible contributions.
Update 12/5: "As a result of a technical glitch, a handful of donations to the campaign were excessive. We appreciate this coming to our attention, and will obviously act immediately to ensure that all such funds are returned or redesignated in a manner consistent with FEC rules," stated Allison Moore, a spokesperson for McConnell's campaign.
