The organization that spends the most on lobbying Congress and the federal government, has reported spending $312,000 on behalf of the Minority Leader of the U.S. Senate, far more than the $10,000 their PAC could give in campaign contributions.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce reported on Friday to the Federal Election Commission that it had spent $312,650 on February 19th on independent expenditures supporting the 2014 re-election campaign Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
The Chamber paid $300,000 to Something Else Strategies in Easley, South Carolina, for TV and online advertisements running from February 19th to March 1st.
The Chamber also paid $12,650 to Fabrizio, Lee & Associates of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, for survey research from February 19 to March 1st.
In December 2013, the US Chamber of Commerce reported it made $200,000 worth of independent expenditure ads supporting Sen. McConnell.
During 2013, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent almost $77 million on lobbying the federal government.
