EMILY's List, a PAC dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women, reported April was its lowest fundraising month since October 2011. The PAC is named for Early Money Is Like Yeast, it makes the dough rise. The PAC hopes by providing early funds to campaigns, the campaigns can more easily raise additional funds.
The Emily's List federal PAC figures do not include the activity of Emily's List Non Federal that reports to the IRS as a Section 527 organization, nor Women Vote!, a super PAC.
The PAC reported raising $951,195 in April and spending $1,716,893, with $3,111,553 in cash on hand as of April 30. In March, it raised $2 million, February $1.3 million, and January 1.4 million. The April drop may be due to the timing of solicitations and fundraising activities.
The report covering April shows $234,216 spent on salaries; $179,654 spent on phone banks; $101,495 spent on postage; $82,487 spent on online advertising; among others. The committee also transferred $300,000 to Women Vote.
EMILY's List also announced it is supporting six more candidates. View Roll Call article.
