Heard on the Hill: Perturbed Over Pat-Downs

Someone sure doesn’t like the Transportation Security Administration ... though maybe, just maybe, he should.

During a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee hearing last Thursday, Rep. Blake Farenthold shared something about his life that probably annoyed his wife.

The Texas Republican is a vocal opponent of the TSA security pat-down procedures.

Last March, the Salt Lake Tribune reported that he railed against being taken into “a backroom” for a thorough screening after he moved during a full body scan.

The Tribune also reported that Farenthold took pictures of two children being patted down at the airport, which seems kind of weird now that we think about it.

“There are people who would go to jail for touching a child like that,” he said.

So maybe it isn’t terribly surprising that Farenthold quipped to the subcommittee members and the witnesses that he has gotten more pat-downs from the TSA since he’s been in Congress than he has from his wife.

Sir, if that were the literal truth, we bet you’d be flying even more than you do now.
