Heard on the Hill: Take Five!
Every week, HOH gets to know a Member of Congress better through a series of five fun questions. This week, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) talks about his favorite vacation spot and Tom Cruise movies.
Q: What’s on your iPod at the moment?
A: I’ve got a lot of Linkin Park at the moment and then 30 Seconds to Mars. My favorite song is “Kings and Queens.”
Q: What’s your favorite place to vacation outside the state of Illinois?
A: I spent a month with the military once on the island of Curacao ... and Curacao inspired my military duty. Just a beautiful island with a lot of great scuba diving. That’s where I learned to scuba dive, and I don’t know if you can top that anywhere in the world. The first time I scuba dived it was probably the best place in the world, so that’s not something I’d recommend doing to people. Start some place like the Great Lakes, where it’s just OK, and then work your way up.
Q: Facebook or Twitter?
A: I’m a Facebook guy. Twitter’s OK, but I still haven’t been able to fully pick up on how to utilize it best. Facebook you can see stuff.
Q: You’ve been called the Tom Cruise of Congress. What’s your favorite Tom Cruise movie?
A: Oh, it’s got be “Top Gun.” That was probably the best pilot, whether it’s Air Force or Navy, pilot recruiting movie in the world, and it still retains that title.
Q: Any predictions on when the Cubs might win a World Series?
A: Figure out when we’re finally going to put someone on Mars, and I think you’ll have the approximate time frame.
