Dale Kildee’s Nephew Seeks Retiring Uncle’s Michigan Seat

Former Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee (D-Mich.) will enter the race Tuesday for the seat currently held by his uncle, retiring Rep. Dale Kildee (D).

“I’m announcing that I’m running for Congress,” Dan Kildee said in a brief Monday phone interview. “This is a seat that I think I can represent well. I know the district really well, I know the communities that live here and I’m familiar with the problems that they face.”

Dan Kildee has raised $132,000 through the end of September for the eastern Michigan House seat. He will face former Rep. Jim Barcia and state Sen. John Gleason in the Democratic primary. He said his uncle would back his bid.

Roll Call rates this race as Likely Democratic. The victor of the Democratic primary will most likely be the next Congressman.
