Heard on the Hill: Take Five!

Every week, HOH gets to know a Member of Congress better through a series of five fun questions.

This week, we spoke to Rep. Bill Keating (D-Mass.) about his favorite movie, recurring dreams and the three historical people he would like to have dinner with.

Q: Whats your favorite movie?

A: The one Id have to say, if I had to rank one, is To Kill a Mockingbird. It just strikes a chord in me. I was a district attorney for 12 years before this, and I think being drawn to government and standing up for the people that cant stand up for themselves, against the odds ... its a terrific thing. And taking the wrath of your community by doing the right thing, all those are themes that really struck a chord in me.

Q: If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go?

A: Really, the truth, and its boring ... Id just like to be at my house in Cape Cod because theres just the familiarity and relaxation. I really enjoy that in the summer, but if you ask me that in the winter ... Ive never been to Hawaii. Everyone Ive talked to family, friends has always said theres no place like Hawaii. So its an incomplete, for now.

Q: Who living or dead, fictional or real would you most want to have dinner with?

A: Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi and everyone always says it, but Jesus Christ. Do I have to pick one? Get those three together, that would be quite a dinner! It would really be disappointing if they ended up in a food fight, though!

Q: If you could have any job other than your current one, what would it be?

A: General manager of the Boston Red Sox.

Q: What superpower would you want, if you could have one?

A: The ability to fly. I have dreams where Im flying, and theyre very pleasant dreams. For whatever reason, I have those dreams, and theyre always the one you wake up saying, Ah, well, that was pretty good!
