Heard on the Hill: Take Five!

Every week, HOH gets to know a Member of Congress better through a series of five fun questions.

This week, we spoke to Rep. Bill Keating (D-Mass.) about his favorite movie, recurring dreams and the three historical people he would like to have dinner with.

Q: Whatís your favorite movie?

A: The one Iíd have to say, if I had to rank one, is ďTo Kill a Mockingbird.Ē It just strikes a chord in me. I was a district attorney for 12 years before this, and I think being drawn to government and standing up for the people that canít stand up for themselves, against the odds ... itís a terrific thing. And taking the wrath of your community by doing the right thing, all those are themes that really struck a chord in me.

Q: If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go?

A: Really, the truth, and itís boring ... Iíd just like to be at my house in Cape Cod because thereís just the familiarity and relaxation. I really enjoy that in the summer, but if you ask me that in the winter ... Iíve never been to Hawaii. Everyone Iíve talked to ó family, friends ó has always said thereís no place like Hawaii. So itís an incomplete, for now.

Q: Who ó living or dead, fictional or real ó would you most want to have dinner with?

A: Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi and ó everyone always says it, but ó Jesus Christ. Do I have to pick one? Get those three together, that would be quite a dinner! It would really be disappointing if they ended up in a food fight, though!

Q: If you could have any job other than your current one, what would it be?

A: General manager of the Boston Red Sox.

Q: What superpower would you want, if you could have one?

A: The ability to fly. I have dreams where Iím flying, and theyíre very pleasant dreams. For whatever reason, I have those dreams, and theyíre always the one you wake up saying, ďAh, well, that was pretty good!Ē
