Defense policy analysis, commentary and discussion.State Sen. Nina Turner (D-Ohio) said she’s “seriously considering” challenging Rep. Marcia Fudge (D) in the redrawn 11th district.
Turner said in a phone interview she has filed the paperwork to set up an exploratory committee so she can “collect the requisite data” to make a decision about the race.
The new 11th stretches south from downtown Cleveland to Akron in Summit County. It’s the only majority-minority district in the Buckeye State and leans heavily Democratic. It’s a great deal of new territory for Fudge, and some Democrats believe the two-term lawmaker is vulnerable in a primary under the new lines.
In a statement, Fudge said she’s “ready to run on my record against anyone.”
“I’m working hard for the people of my district and I stand ready to continue to do so,” Fudge said.
