As the Senate moved toward a vote on President Barack Obama’s jobs bill Tuesday, conservative group American Crossroads launched TV ads in Orlando and Pittsburgh that attacked it as another Democratic spending plan that would raise taxes.
The ad includes clips of TV news reports on top of ominous background music, as well as President Bill Clinton declaring that raising taxes in a recession is a bad idea.
“He raised our hopes, he seemed to understand,” the ad’s announcer says. “But today, he’s different. President Obama’s latest way is still the wrong way.”
The group spent $70,000 on the 30-second ad, which is running in the two markets from Monday night through Wednesday on cable news and local networks. Obama won Pennsylvania by 10 points in 2008 and carried Florida by 3 points. Both states will be vital to his re-election and are also home to the re-election races of Democratic Sens. Bill Nelson (Fla.) and Bob Casey (Pa.).
