Motorcycles aren’t the only product being made north of the border. South-central Pennsylvania is home to several factories and farms that welcome visitors for kid-friendly tours.
Wolfgang Candy
The chocolate-maker was founded in 1921 and is one of the oldest candy companies in the United States. Tours of the factory show visitors the production process and allow them to sample the sweets.

Perrydell Farm
Self-guided tours are allowed of the farm, which produces milk and ice cream. Visitors can witness cows being milked, calves being fed and milk being bottled. Reservations and a small fee are required for groups of 10 or more.
Hours: 7 a.m to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Milk bottling takes place 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. York Barbell Hall of Fame Museum
Tours aren’t available at the York Barbell factory, but the company offers a free museum next door that explains the history of power lifting and includes a weight-lifting hall of fame. The museum gift store sells York Barbell products.

Snyder’s of Hanover
This pretzel and snack-food manufacturer, which was founded in 1909, offers a guided, hourlong walking tour of the warehouses, production line, oven room and packing room.

Utz Quality Food Inc.
Visitors can watch Utz employees making potato chips from an observation gallery above the production floor. The chip-maker was founded in 1921 but boasts a modern 600,000-square-foot facility.
