Back in August, HOH (with the help of the keeper of White House stats, CBS’ Mark Knoller) tallied up President Barack Obama’s golf days of summer: 10 for the season, with five of those happening in August.
So after a mic caught Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) chatting to Vice President Joseph Biden on Thursday night about one of his own golf days of summer, we thought it might be fun to track how many times Boehner hit the links in August. Because fair is fair.
Looks like Boehner tied Obama with at least five days on the green, but boring ol’ POTUS only played at Andrews Air Force Base and Martha’s Vineyard (yawn), while the Speaker went on a whirlwind tour of some fabulous courses all over this great land.
He began his golfing-for-dollars tour by teeing off with — and fundraising for — Rep. Bob Latta at the famed Toledo course in their home state of Ohio on Aug. 11.
Aug. 18 had Boehner breakfasting and golfing in South Dakota for Republican Rep. Kristi Noem. She charged people $500 to have breakfast and a picture taken with the Speaker, $250 just to eat.
The “in the middle of nowhere” golf game that he told Biden about took place Aug. 20, in Mullen, Neb., with Rep. Adrian Smith (R). Not sure how much that cost to join, but the course looked gorgeous.
Finally, on Aug. 31, Boehner was in Peoria, Ill., teeing off with Rep. Aaron Schock (R), who charged folks $250 to play.
