Holly McGovern Barber was named director of community outreach and special events for the Republican National Convention.
Barber worked in the communications department at the 1988 convention in New Orleans. In 1989, Barber joined the International Republican Institute as director of public affairs and special events, and she took part in the 1992 convention as deputy director of the international program.

Lois Lerner, director of exempt organizations for the IRS, arrives for a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on the investigation of the IRS' targeting of political groups. Lerner invoked her Fifth Amendment right to not testify and caused a protest from some committee members when she offered an opening statement and engaged in dialogue with members before invoking the right.
