Former Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) may have been marred by scandal in 2007 when he was arrested for lewd conduct in a men’s public bathroom, but that doesn’t mean his friends in Congress won’t make time for him.
Craig made the rounds on Capitol Hill this week, meeting with Alaska Rep. Don Young (R) and Idaho Sen. James Risch (R).
But that’s not all. Craig was seen chatting with Members on the Senate floor and waiting in line at Cups on Monday. He was also spotted at a House Natural Resources Committee hearing Tuesday afternoon.
“It’s been very pleasant, it truly has,” Craig tells HOH of his return. “I spent 28 years on this Hill and made great friendships.”
Craig is currently in the process of registering as a lobbyist and plans to spend two weeks a month in Washington, D.C., working for his new company, New West Strategies.
“What is the new business? Selling full-length public bathroom doors?” one tipster quipped.
While Craig appears glad to be back, some in his own party are not happy to see him.
“The same arrogant Senator who failed to realize the impact of his scandal returns to the Hill to ask former colleagues to trust him as a businessman?” one GOP strategist told HOH. “Is he paying them? Going to be a tough sell for the Senator.”
Ouch! Here’s hoping Craig came back to the Hill with thick skin. He may need it.
