Heard on the Hill: Baby, You Can Drive My Car

The Washington Auto Show wrapped up over the weekend, but several Members of Congress made sure to check it out during its closing days.

Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Benjamin Cardin (D-Md.) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), as well as House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and Reps. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) and Fred Upton (R-Mich.) were among those who visited the big event, Gerry Murphy of the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Assocation says.

Members checked out the new vehicles on hand and talked with industry representatives about issues related to the automotive industry, including emerging technologies.

It wasn’t all work and no play: Brown played an interactive racing game, and Leahy’s wife, Marcelle, rode a Segway.

“Sen. Brown enjoyed the opportunity to view all the great cars built in Ohio,” spokeswoman Meaghan Dubyak tells HOH.
