HOH hears former Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.) stopped by the Crystal City Sports Pub on Nov. 20 to catch the annual football game between rivals Montana and Montana State.
While Burns watched the game on the bar’s big screens, Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) attended the game in person, and a brief incident during the sports broadcast created a weird moment involving the two former opponents.
At one point during the matchup, Tester was shown on TV, causing the crowd at the sports bar to erupt in cheers, a tipster says.
It is unclear whether Burns was around when Tester got his TV shout-out. But if he was there, we’re pretty sure it was a tad awkward, considering Tester ousted Burns in 2006. Burns didn’t return a call by press time.
Vice President Joe Biden waits to conduct a mock swearing-in ceremony with Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, in the Capitol's Old Senate Chamber, December 2, 2014. Schatz was sworn in to serve the remainder of his term since he was appointed to the seat after Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, passed away.
