Every Tuesday, HOH gets to know a Member of Congress better through a series of five fun questions. This week, we chat with Rep. Allen West. The Florida Republican’s answers reveal a proud U.S. military veteran, though they do make us wonder why a guy from the citrus-heavy Sunshine State prefers cranberry juice to orange.
Q: What team will win the NBA finals?
A: I am actually more focused on next year’s college football season and am hoping my University of Tennessee Volunteers finally get a bowl game. For the NBA, of course being from South Florida, we wish the Miami Heat well.
Q: If you could have dinner with anyone (aside from your family), who would it be and why?
A: The coach of the West Point football team so I can finally get a definitive date on when Army will finally beat Navy.
Q: What’s your favorite drink?
A: Cranberry juice — straight up!
Q: What’s your favorite movie?
A: “Spartacus,” “Gladiator,” “Glory,” “Braveheart” ... all about sacrifice for principles!
Q: Who is your best friend in Congress?
A: I have 86 Republican freshman colleagues, and I consider them all my very new best friends.
