Rep. Tom Price scheduled a fundraiser for the Washington Nationals Opening Day game.

Clarification Appended

Two Members of Congress are hoping to score at the Washington Nationals Opening Day game against the Atlanta Braves this afternoon. But don’t expect them to root for the D.C. home team.

Georgia Reps. Tom Price (R) and John Barrow (D) both have scheduled fundraisers at Nationals Park for today’s game.

Price’s event will set fans back $750 for individuals, $1,000 for political action committees or $2,500 for PAC hosts, according to an invitation. Barrow’s fundraiser runs $1,500 for one ticket.

Neither camp returned calls seeking comment, so it’s unclear whether there are still seats available.

Barrow, who won his last election with 57 percent, had about $70,000 in cash on hand at the end of last year, according to Federal Election Commission records. He sits on the Energy and Commerce and Veterans’ Affairs committees.

At the end of last year, Price had more than $1 million in cash on hand, FEC records show. Price’s fundraising came under the microscope of the Office of Congressional Ethics last year in part for his chief of staff’s role in such events, but the House Ethics Committee cleared the Congressman of any appearance of impropriety.

As for opening day and the home team, D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D) has no plans to take in the game.

Clarification: March 31, 2011

The article referenced an Office of Congressional Ethics investigation last year into the fundraising activities of Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.). Price’s chief of staff was not under investigation and no allegations were made against him. As the item noted, the House Ethics Committee cleared Price of any appearance of impropriety.
