The House will hold its first hearing on the Metro crash Tuesday, with testimony from local and federal officials.
According to a press release from D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D), the hearing will “examine any progress that has been made in the ongoing investigations since the Metrorail accident last month, explore the steps WMATA has taken since the accident to ensure the safety of riders and employees, and provide an overview of various Metrorail systems, equipment, and safety policies and procedures.”
Officials will answer questions from the Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, Postal Service and the District of Columbia. The hearing starts at 2 p.m. in Room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority General Manager John Catoe and National Transportation Safety Board member Deborah Hersman will testify, along with officials from the D.C. Council and various transportation boards.
