Alabama: Roby Feted Today by GOP Congresswomen

Montgomery City Councilwoman Martha Roby (R), who the National Republican Congressional Committee has touted as one of its top recruits of the cycle, is making the rounds on Capitol Hill this week and will be feted by a group of GOP Congresswomen at a lunch event this afternoon just off Capitol Hill.
The meet-and-greet event is being hosted by Republican Reps. Judy Biggert (Ill.), Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.), Mary Fallin (Okla.), Lynn Jenkins (Kan.), Cynthia Lummis (Wyo.), Mary Bono Mack (Calif.), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.), Jean Schmidt (Ohio) and Ginny Brown-Waite (Fla.).
Roby is challenging freshman Rep. Bobby Bright (D) in the conservative southeastern 2nd district, which Republicans held for more than 40 years before losing it in an open-seat contest last year.
Roby got off to a quick fundraising start in May, bringing in more than $125,000 in the first six weeks of her campaign. But Roby reported an underwhelming $91,000 raised during the third quarter.
She ended September with about $179,000 in cash on hand compared to Bright’s $489,000.
