“We’re offering our support to Congressman McNerney because we’ve come to believe this area couldn’t be better represented by anyone than Jerry McNerney,” Supervisors Steve Bestolarides and Larry Ruhstaller said in a statement.

Although they don’t have a candidate yet, Republicans are hoping to give McNerney another strong challenge in the 11th district, which takes in parts of the Bay Area and the Central Valley. National GOP leaders are trying to recruit Contra Costa County Sheriff Warren Rupf into the race.
