McCotter won re-election with only 51 percent of the vote against a little-known Democrat in his district west of Detroit. President Barack Obama carried the district by a margin of 9 points in 2008 another reason why Democrats believe it is a good pickup opportunity for the party next cycle, if they can find the right candidate to run against the four-term Republican.
A spokeswoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Gabby Adler, confirmed that Mosher had contacted them about her bid, but she added that there are several other candidates still looking at running for McCotters seat.
