When a male colleague brought an alligator onto the Colorado Senate floor, in violation of both chamber rules and her own wishes, state Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald (D) said the subtext was clear. Fitz-Gerald, the first woman to hold the Centennial State’s Senate presidency, believes the incident had a lot to do with the fact that she has two X chromosomes.
