Vermont Ruling Seen as Win for Status Quo

The Supreme Court decision Monday striking down a Vermont campaign finance law gave reform groups both a twinge of disappointment and a sense of relief. Some reform groups said they were pleased that most campaign finance laws are left untouched, while others called the decision a wake-up call that would galvanize their uphill efforts to promote public financing of elections.
