The Stanley Cup is coming to Washington, and the New England delegation members can get their picture taken with it!
The National Hockey League’s championship trophy, which is so desirable that it has been know to cause even ever-polite Canadians to lose their minds, is coming to the Capitol.
“Dear Members of the New England Delegation and Staff,” the invite begins. “Senator John Kerry cordially invites Members of the New England Delegation and staff to a reception honoring the Stanley Cup.”
To be clear, this is just for the New England delegation members and their staff.
The reception is to celebrate the 2011 NHL champion Boston Bruins, but really it is so New Englanders can be close to that giant, shiny cup.
If you are from New England and would like to celebrate the giant, shiny cup with them, head to the hearing room of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (which Kerry conveniently chairs) on Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Don’t forget to bring your Congressional ID (and your camera!). It will be wicked awesome.
