Cory Booker, Rosa DeLauro Headline FED UP Screening on the Hill

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., will be on hand at the Capitol Visitor Center on Wednesday evening to herald a screening of "FED UP," a documentary about the obesity epidemic and its causes. The film, by director Stephanie Soechtig, features a who's who of the food awareness set, including Michael Pollan and Mark Bittman, along with former President Bill Clinton, who credits a vegan diet for keeping him alive after heart problems almost felled him a few years back. The movie points the finger at the sugar industry, aiming to dispose of the theory that it's lack of exercise alone that's to blame for Americans' expanding body mass index. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCUbvOwwfWM The screening starts at the CVC's Orientation Theater South at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a panel discussion led by Soechtig, executive producer Laurie David and Michael Jacobson, executive director of the Center for Science int he Public Interest. The movie starts a run on Friday at E Street Cinema at 555 11th St. NW.
